This unsigned miniature portrait is of an unknown man. It is extremely well painted by a trained artist, and was intially thought to be by Henry Inman (1801-1846). Inman was for a time New York's leading miniature painter. He worked with both John Wesley Jarvis and Thomas Seir Cummings.
However, it is now thought to be by Nathaniel Rogers (1788-1844) who mainly worked in New York City. 429c
